Learn More About Our Guest Nutritionist, Lisa Schrader!


We are delighted to introduce Lisa Schrader, founder of Thoughtfully Fueled to the Spirit Football Community. Lisa is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), licensed in the state of Illinois (LDN), and a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT). Lisa graduated from The University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts in Health and Human Physiology and also has a Master of Science from Concordia University Chicago in Sports Nutrition.


Lisa has been fantastic in advising how to best prepare and help your body recover, especially during the high-energy soccer seasons.


There are many myths out there and the best advice I received from Lisa was to keep those electrolytes and carbohydrates at hand during games and post recovery. My favorite is definitely Liquid IV. Eating before a game is also something that I would not enjoy, yet today I have a great routine with options that keep me fueled just to the point that I feel energetic yet light.

Pre-Workout Snack Ideas:

Peanut butter and banana or PBJ sandwich

Greek yogurt with berries

Oatmeal made with milk and topped with fruit

Apple and peanut or almond butter

A handful of nuts + fruit (two parts fruit: one-part nuts)


Post-Workout Snack Ideas:

Post-workout smoothie (made with milk/yogurt/protein powder and fruit)

Chocolate milk

Turkey wrap with veggies
