Upcoming Matchups in the Champions League

ree

As a number of big games approach, let's take a look at the upcoming soccer matchups.

Sb Salzburg vs Bayern Munich

These two are very well known teams that dominate their respective leagues, so without a doubt this will be a nice matchup to watch on the 16th of February. One big question always asked about these types of matchups is who has the upper hand going into this game, and for me it's a clear answer: Bayern.

On paper, the German team (Bayern) has quite a big advantage, having one of the best middle lines in the world. Starting with a world-class goalkeeper, Manuel Neur, to Goretzka and Kimmich, who with their athleticism and strength are able to control the minefield, to Thomas Muller, a veteran in the champions league, and finishing it off with the attackers Lewandowski (also known as Lewan'goal'ski haha), Sané and Gnabry.

Sporting FC vs Man City

These teams are also on top of the leaderboards when it comes to their respective leagues, but without a question, Man City is favored to win.

The City players have much more experience and quite frankly much more talent as they compete in a league that is known to be the toughest. Although this will be very much one-sided, the competition will still be enjoyable as the pressure will most definitely make this entertaining. Some of the players to look out for on the 15th of February are Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Joao Cancelo, and Paulinho. We all hope and wish to see how far this Portuguese team can make it!

Real Madrid vs Paris Saint-Germain

This is probably the biggest game of the round of sixteen, two giants in the world of football clashing to see which one will compete in the next round. Statistically speaking, PSG have the upper hand with some of the world’s best attackers (Messi, Neymar, and Mbappe), but the Real Madrid team has got some more visible team chemistry which could lead them to victory.

This match will be much more than a champions league challenge for some players, like with Hakimi, for example. He's a young right back for PSG who was trained and spent his youth years playing in the Madrid Academy team. This will make the game so intense and meaningful. Hopefully by the time the game is here, the COVID situation will be better dealt with so more fans can fill the beautiful French stadium.
